When building or repairing a machine, a considerable amount of time is spent on electrical planning. Most of the focus is placed on understanding the project scope, defining and designing around components that best meet the application requirements as well as the adherence to industry standards and codes. Considerations on how to effectively manage and protect the electrical wiring often becomes an afterthought and sometimes takes place once the wiring has already been terminated. This can greatly limit the number of wire protection options that can be used or the options that are available may be limited in their ability to effectively protect the very wiring on which so much focus was placed.
When it comes to retrofit solutions, Moltec has divisible and slit conduit systems available that can be quickly and with great ease installed over pre-existing wiring without the need for disconnection.
Unprotected wires and cables are exposed to various environmental elements and mechanical stresses and therefore susceptible to damage . This puts the machine at risk of failure which can result in costly repairs and down-time. A number of bundling and wrapping techniques are available but can be time-consuming and tedious. Moltec retrofit solutions save on installation time and effectively provide electrical wiring installation management, fastening and protection while at the same time delivering an aesthetically pleasing finish to the project.
Moltec divisible and slit conduit systems are designed for pre-loomed and retrofit applications. The conduit is easily and quickly installed over terminated wiring without the need for disconnection. It also allows for new cables to be added to existing configurations at any point. Management and routing of wiring bundles is effectively achieved while protecting against mechanical stresses and damage. Both systems offer:
- Easy Bundling and Routing
- Time-Saving Installation
- Protection Against Impact, Compression, and Abrasion
- Aesthetic Management of Wiring
Divisible System
Our NMD and PMD conduits pull apart and re-attach like a zipper. Separation is achieved by simply pulling the two-piece conduit apart. Wiring is fed into the inner conduit. The outer conduit is then placed over top of the inner conduit, effectively covering the slit for a 360° protection. This can be done time and time again to add more wiring or reconfigure existing wiring. The double-layered conduit system offers:
- Rugged Mechanical Protection
- Fatigue Resistance
- Divisible Fittings & Lock Nuts for a complete solution
- Insertion Tool makes installation even faster
Slit System
PLF and NLF light version conduits are slit lengthwise. These conduits are ideal for retrofit bundling and routing of wiring economically. Feeding wiring into conduit takes mere seconds with the use of our ST Split Conduit Insertion Tool making installation quick, easy and economical. The slit system provides mechanical protection for wiring and an aesthetic finish that is superior to other systems. Splice connectors allow organized and protected delivery of wiring throughout the application:
